Lesson Plans - incorporate electricity
http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/phy03.sci.phys.mfe.lp_electric/electric-circuits/ This is a three part lesson plan introducing students to electric currents.
http://makeymakey.com/lessons/simple-circuit-challenge/ Students get different challenge cards in this lesson and have to build their own circuits according to the challenge. This would be a fun lesson to use in groups after introducing students to more simple circuits.
http://littlebits.cc/lessons/let-s-make-a-techno-jungle-together Students use circuits to make a jungle character light up then they must write a narrative for their character.
https://www.srpnet.com/education/pdfx/electriccircuits.pdf In this lesson students learn about series and parallel circuits as well as conductors and insulators.
http://media.wfyi.org/IndianaExpeditions/IDEXSeason3_2010/IDEX301/IDEX301ElectircEnergyCircuits.pdf This lesson plan introduces students to a switch with simple circuits. students come up with their own ideas of what they could make with these circuits.

Paper Circuits
Makey Makey
__https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnfdWg1K5x4__ This is a short video showing children playing with Little Bits. It would be a good introduction video.
__https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwVderzRuWM__ This video explains the basics of Little Bits slowly and clearly.
__https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQYXtushd3o__ This video shows how to make an easy paper circuit. It would be a good beginning project.
__https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV3OJZQZrk0__ This is a video showing how to make a paper circuit card. It would be a great class project.
__https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRuQc5XkeOU__ This video is of a child teaching how to use makey makey.

Articles - for children to read
Electricity & circuits
__http://discoverykids.com/articles/how-do-electric-circuits-work/__
This short article is a good quick read for students for an introduction to electrical circuits.
__http://www.explainthatstuff.com/electricity.html__
This article explains the different kinds of electricity including electrical circuits and how they each work.
__http://www.dkfindout.com/us/science/electricity/circuits/__
This article is actually interactive. It is a good way to introduce electrical circuits and get students involved. It also includes a short quiz.
__http://sciencewithme.com/learn-about-electricity/__
This article has it all: what we use electricity for, power sources, electrical circuits, conductors and insulators, experiments, switches, drawings and symbols, types of circuits, etc.
__http://www.ducksters.com/science/electricity_101.php__
This article is also a great introduction read for students. It also states dangers of electricity which I appreciated.
Articles - for teachers.
Need NSTA membership to view.
__http://static.nsta.org/files/PB271X-22.pdf__ - This is a great activity for hands on learners. It explains how electricity and currents can move through bodies. And gets students thinking about electrical currents.
__http://static.nsta.org/files/sc0912_20.pdf__ - This is a 3 hour activity for 4th - 5th graders. The shoebox activity is a great project but I really like how this article breaks it down and really explains what you are doing and why.
__http://static.nsta.org/files/sc1108_37.pdf__ - the students write scientific concepts they learned through inquiry activities and explicit teaching. It gives examples of student work and a rubric.
__http://static.nsta.org/files/PB281X-5.pdf__ - focuses on (POE) predict, observe, explain sequence, gives worksheets along with the experiments to try. And really focuses on all of the electricity aspects.
__http://static.nsta.org/files/ss0309_18.pdf__ - This said it was for middle schoolers but you could pull it off with fifth graders. It really gets the students thinking, there is not an answer, so they continually are a “scientist” trying to figure out what is going on. They are trying to see how the light-up shoes light up.
